CBC OTTAWA’S PROJECT GIVE WILL BE LIVE FROM THE NATIONAL ARTS CENTRE ON FRIDAY, DEC. 13 IN SUPPORT OF THE OTTAWA FOOD BANK

December 12, 2019

Join CBC Ottawa on Friday, Dec. 13 at the National Arts Centre public spaces for Project Give, their annual day of giving for the Ottawa Food Bank. It’s a full day of live broadcasts, musical performances, storytelling and charitable giving.

CBC Ottawa will be live at the NAC all day with some of CBC Ottawa’s favourite local hosts and programs.

CBC Project Give is about bringing the community together and raising funds for non-perishable and fresh food to fight hunger in Ottawa. Last year, the campaign raised nearly $200,000!

Here’s what’s happening on Dec. 13!

5:30-8:30 a.m. | Ottawa Morning
Wake up with Ottawa Morning and host Robyn Bresnahan live from Equator Coffee Roasters at the National Arts Centre. For this special show, we’ve matched up local musicians to perform some of your favourite holiday tunes. Rebecca Noelle will be joined by Tyler Kelee, and Kellylee Evans will take the mic along with JW Jones and Jeff Rogers. Stick around after the show and have a coffee with the Ottawa Morning crew (while quantities last).

Noon | Noontime concert (and get your limited edition CBC Ottawa mugs!)
Join Lucy van Oldenbarneveld and Adrian Harewood, co-hosts of CBC Ottawa News at 6, for a free concert on the Glass Thorsteinson Staircase featuring local gypsy jazz band, Django Libre. The Ottawa ensemble had everyone on their feet at last year’s Project Give noon-time concert, and so we are bringing them back for an encore.

Plus, choose one of five collectable CBC Ottawa mugs and get it gift wrapped! We’ve created a series of limited edition CBC Ottawa mugs inspired by the shows you love. Each mug in this special collection comes with a story from our local newsroom. You can only find this unique gift at the National Arts Centre on Dec. 13, available for a suggested minimum donation of $20 to the Ottawa Food Bank (while quantities last).

1:15 to 1:45 p.m. | Drumming Workshop

Join us for a hand drumming workshop with Kathy Armstrong. Learn some simple patterns from Ghana that layer together to make a vibrant community groove! Drums will be provided, no experience necessary. All are welcome!

2:15 to 2:45 p.m. | Q&A with Rita Celli and Ed Lawrence

We are very excited to host a special meet and greet with Ontario Today host Rita Celli and CBC Ottawa's go-to gardening expert Ed Lawrence. Join us for a chat on the Glass Thorsteinson Staircase. Have a question for Ed or Rita? Now is your chance to ask them in person. Plus, we'll have some special gardening giveaways. Don't miss it!

3-6 p.m. | All In A Day
All In A Day with host Alan Neal will take the stage in Peter A. Herrndorf Place in the afternoon. Swing by after work to watch the live show and enjoy musical performances from Skydiggers and Luke Lalonde of Born Ruffians, plus great conversation and a few surprises.

6-7 p.m. | CBC Ottawa News at 6
Rounding up the highlights of the day, Adrian Harewood will be live from the Ottawa Food Bank warehouse and Lucy van Oldenbarneveld will be back in studio to bring you fundraising updates, interviews and stories as part of a special newscast.

Artists, personalities and schedule are subject to change.
